Today, I witnessed A battle, Between A knight and a peasant. It was brutal , It happened in the middle of town, right outside of a barber shop. It was caused because the peasant tried to steel something from the knight. This fight was over faster then it started, The peasant was nearly killed! I was shocked to see this, but I guess it was just a matter of time and place, because I definitely did not want to witness it. I hope I never have to see another thing like that ever again.

My life today in 2009, is really not much different from back in the middle ages. My family/Culture is not very different, I live with a loving family that i love very much, And my culture hasn't changed I'm still expected to act the way I did back then. The Government has changed very much. We are still ruled by one person, But we all have A say in who it is, And what happens in our country. I like life a lot better these days. And im very luckey to live in this type of enviorment.

I live in a small town, but its full of valleys, rivers and lakes. I love where I live, but I can't wait to return home. I'm an apprentice to A cook. Every week I go to the store and get what I will need for the week. Then I come home and get the kitchen area prepared for dinner. I help cook the food that we will eat, and then I serve the food. After we're done eating I am expected to clean up after myself and Caroline. We usually eat fish and chicken. Those are two of our main meals. In my neighborhood, I do not interact with many people, I mostly spend time with Caroline and sometime A few local kids in the neighborhood. That is what I'm expected to do every day of every week.

Where I live in Western Europe our type of government is called the feudal system. This government has levels. The kings being the highest then the Nobles, The Knights and the Peasants. Many laws were set in the middle ages. A law that I don't agree with was that when A people would commit a crime they would have to swallow poison, or carry a burning piece of iron over a certain distance, and If the burn got infected the person would be sentenced as guilty. I don't agree with this because just because a burn gets infected, it doesn't mean hes guilty. But there is also laws that I do agree with it was an obligation of an intermediate lord to protect his tenets against interference from his own over lord. I agree with this because the lord should protect his people.

Hello my name is Cassidy Cook, I live in Western Europe and I'm 13 years old. I do not attend a school, for I am a apprentice to Caroline Cook. My family is far away living in A town called Blackstone , They brought me here to learn everything I need to know about cooking, Not as a punishment but as a learning experience. So now living with Caroline Cook it seems as she is my family now. Shes very nice and does not yell. My house is big and yellow, its a very nice place. Every day I am expected to clean the kitchen, buy and prepare all of our meals and also clean up after Caroline and myself when we finish eating! If I find any spare time in the day I like to go outside and play any type of sport.

EXCITING
YEARS!

By: paige

“Mom
I don't want to go. You can't make me!” I screamed!

“Paige
I promise it won't be that bad” My mom said as she forced me
into the car.”“People are going to me mean”
I said.

“Well
you will just have to see...”

When
I was 4 and about to start pre-school I was pretty scared to start
pre-school, even though I thought so many extremely amazing things
we're going to happen. A week before i started pre-school my mom woke
me up early and said, “Get up, get dressed, and brush your
teeth, Paige we are going shopping.” When i found out we we're
going shopping i was so happy!

I
loved shopping. We got in the car and drove to Bangor! It seemed like
it took forever to get there! I was really impatient. But when we
finally got there my eyes lit up with excitement! I jumped out of
the car and attempted to sprint to the mall! My mom ran after me
screaming “ PAIGE, SLOW DOWN! LOOK BOTH WAYS!” She
finally caught me and got me to slow down and walk. We went into the
mall and went straight to JC penny.

My mom and I quickly looked through JC penny, this was a big store,
We saw a bunch of shirts and pants and even dresses! There were also
kids much smaller than me who were crying and yanking on their moms
pant legs, because they wouldn't get them what they wanted. We could
hear all the people in the mall loudly talking like they we're the
only ones in the store. Then we finally found it, the most perfect
dress I had ever seen, It was light purple, with little bows on the
bottom of the dress, the dress flowed down to just under my knees, I
loved this dress. Then we came across a pair of shinny white slide on
shoes. They we're gorgeous. I had to have them to match the wonderful
dress I picked out. I wanted to look good, considering i was
starting at a new school, with new people that i'd never met before!

On
the way home all I talked about was pre-school and how great it would
be! I was really getting excited! As soon as we got home I tried on
all the clothes I bought and showed my dad and my brother, and anyone
else that was around that would pretend to care! A week goes by and
it seemed like forever! But then when the day finally came that I was
starting pre-school i was nervous! I was happy the day was here but I
was so scared that people wouldn't like me and that I would have a
mean teacher! My mom drove me to school and walked me to the
classroom, My teacher Ms. Thompson was standing in the doorway and
when she saw my mom and I approaching the classroom she began to
smile! My mom and her stood in the door way talking while i hid
behind my moms legs petrified. And then when mom handed me off to Ms.
Thompson I cried and begged my mom not to leave. But she did..

As
soon as I finally realized that I was all alone now and that my mom
was gone, I let Ms. Thompson show me around the classroom. It really
didn't seem that bad there was like a lot of toys and like blocks and
a station to listen to books on tape! It all seemed great until i
realized that there was 19 other kids in the classroom that i didn't
know, Then the feeling of being scared came back. Ms. Thompson called
us all to the front of the class and said “ Your getting your
new seats now!” She called off everyones names. And i was one
of the last people and she said “ Paige you will sit with
Marideth.” I was not excited about sitting by her, Because I
had no idea who she was. (As you can tell I was not very outgoing.)
But I sat by her anyway! So time went by and i actually learned stuff
about Marideth and we became best friends! This made pre*school so
much better.

It
got to be February and I was really excited because my birthday was
in February. I went to school on February 22
nd and Was
yelling “MY BIRTHDAY'S TOMMAROW!” Ms. Thompson calmly
said, “Paige whens your birthday?” I replied “
february 23rd” She said “ What a coincidence so is mine!”
In pre*school I thought that the teacher having the same birthday as
me was really cool! We finished out our day of school and then went
home. When I got home I got a phone call! It was from Ms. Thompson.
She said “ Hello Paige, Sorry to bother you at home but, I was
just wondering if you would like to have a little celebration for our
birthday tomorrow?” I instantly replied “ Yes!” .
The next morning when I got up for school I knew that the day would
be great! I was finally 5 and i was going to get a party at school.
As soon as I arrived at school I found Ms. Thompson and gave her a
hug and said Happy Birthday. The day seemed so long, But then at the
end of the day, We ate cup cake's and played games like life and
monopoly! This was so much fun! I learned a bunch of new things in
pre school! The most important was probably the alphabet. I was very
happy I had this experience with my Teacher and My friends Marideth,
Natasha and Amber!

Well
thats how it happened with my whole pre*school 5
th
birthday thing! This was a very special time to me! I even remember
it to this day! I felt so special when the whole end of the day was
dedicated to me and ms. thompson! She was a great teacher! I miss her
tons, I am almost positive I will always remember the day in
pre*school, When we had a whole day devoted to us. In The end I
surprisingly loved pre*school, I had made new friends and had a great
teacher! I was so happy!
